Welcome to the O'Connor Golf
Training Academy
at Inwood Golf Course in
Joliet, IL
For more than 42 years, Tom O'Connor has been teaching
golf. He started his career in 1962 as Assistant Professional at
Statesville Country Club, Statesville, N.C. In 1987 he decided to
focus his career on teaching. He became Director of Instruction for the
Joliet Park District in Illinois. In 1990 he joined the teaching staff at
Cog Hill Golf Club in Lemont, Illinois (home of the Western Open). In
1997 he opened the O'Connor Golf Training Academy and in 2003 he became
the University of St. Francis Women’s Golf Coach. And, in 2005 he started
the Tom O’Connor Annual Celebrity Golf Scramble, a fundraiser with all
proceeds going to the University of St. Francis Women’s and Men’s Golf
Team.
Tom O'Connor is proud of his students including 2000
Boys State High School Champion, Future Tour Players, Division I, II
& NAIA Boys & Girls College Players, and many PGA
Apprentices.
He’s also proud of O’Connor
Junior Golf Academy being voted one of the top Junior Golf Programs in Illinois
by Publinks Golf Magazine in 2004.
Tom O’Connor was awarded the
Illinois PGA Career Achievement Award in 2009.
